Life is short. Eat that damn dessert.
I am a self-confessed sugar addict. I cannot have a meal without dessert. Heck, I might even have dessert BEFORE the meal. Or better yet, (eyes glimmer at the thought…) Why don’t we just have dessert for the whole meal?!
The gods of desserts must have heard me and sent Milkbox here on earth. A cafe that serves all day waffles, ice cream and milkshakes?! Shush! Say no more!
Milkbox serves specialty coffee, ice cream, and waffles and is the home of Wonuts and Cwazy Shakes.
The desserts place is located at the New Wing of Alabang Town Center, fronting Wee Nam Kee near one of the entrances to the Metro Supermarket.
The interior of the cafe is a marriage of vintage and industrial design, accented by colorful Tolix chairs, chalkboard, and exposed Edison light bulbs. The place itself is cozy with matching indie music in the background. It’s one of those places you can chill in.
Here’s a preview of their menu in case you plan on going :
The food may seem a bit pricey considering you can get desserts for less, but the generous serving is good for sharing. Or not, depending on your level of hunger or sheer selfishness, or both.
Also, can we just zoom in on the ice cream just a sec? Because YUM.
A trip to Milkbox won’t be complete without trying their very own Wonut creation. In case you’re wondering, the Wonut is what you get when you cross a Waffle and a Donut, much like a Pookimo (Poodle + American Eskimo) or a Saint Berdoodle (St. Bernard + Poodle) which, I shit you not, are legitimate dog cross-breeds.
The Wonut :
If you’re not entirely a sweet tooth, don’t despair because there’s still something for you at Milkbox. The Matcha & Dark Chocolate Wonut gives you juuuust the right amount of sweetness combined with a slight tinge of bitterness and the matcha tea which gives you that earthy, grassy flavor.
For those who are not into leaf-flavored anything, you can try all the other flavors of the Wonut, including Blueberries and Cream, Salted Caramel and Mango, and Nutella Banana.
The Waffle Sundae :
Pictured above is the Dark Chocolate Waffle topped with one scoop each of Dark Chocolate and Red Velvet ice cream. The waffles are THICK (oh I cannot tell you how chunky the waffle is!) chocolate flavored, and are fried to give you a different crunchy texture. I don’t know how you feel about fried or crunchy stuff, but I personally like my waffles soft and pillowy. Adding the ice cream was the best part. I mean, it’s genius. Can you imagine having ice cream for breakfast? It’s the perfect excuse!
MOM : What do you want for breakfast?
ME: Ice cream!!
MOM : Gives you “the look” (you know, the squinted eyes, brow raised, pursed lips look? yeah that…)
ME : ………………..on top of waffles. 🙂
Ahh… what a great time to be alive.
Although can I just say, in the name of all things that is f*cking hipster, dafuq are petals doing in my waffle sundae? No. Don’t feed me petals. I’m not ready for that shit. I tried to eat it and it tasted like shit. And if you’re not supposed to eat it, why is it sprinkled all over my food! T_T No.
So in case you do order, ask them not to throw in the stuff for pete’s sake.
Here’s a preview of their Cwazy Shake :
We haven’t tried the milkshakes just yet, so I don’t know what to tell ya. I guess subconsciously, we wanted to have an excuse to go back 😛
The cafe operates on mall hours, which is 11 a.m. – 9 p.m. on weekdays and 10 a.m. – 9 p.m. on weekends.
